Weight Management

 

As we mature many of us find that we have gained a kilo or two, and our weight distribution has changed! Maybe our hips and thighs are not as slim or as firm as they were in our 20's and 30's and we immediately search for a diet that we feel will suit us.

However the secret to successful long term weight management involves not dieting, but eating sensibly, drinking 8 - 10 glasses of water a day combined with exercise and good quality weight loss supplements.

It is important to enjoy your food, and because our metabolism slows as we age, to maintain energy and blood sugar levels evenly during the day try to eat smaller meals more often. For example 5 small meals, breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, and a small evening meal.

Also of prime importance is incorporating good quality filtered alkaline water consumption into your day regime. )

Here are some tips to help this happen.

1. Have a glass when you wake in the morning.

2. Drink water at each mealtime.

3. Caffeine dehydrates your body, so drink a glass of water for each caffeinated drink you consume. (That includes tea and colas)

4. Carry water with you wherever you go and drink it often.

5. When exercising drink 250mls. of water every 15 minutes.

We also need exercise to help boost our metabolism, and to reach and maintain our weight loss goals. It is critical in any exercise programme to choose the type of exercise which you can enjoy and look forward to. Find a friend or exercise buddy and embark on a programme you can enjoy together, there are a multitude of benefits in this. Include your friend if possible in your weight loss plan, thereby supporting one another.

Above all maintain a positive attitude, affirmations can help here. Try these, "I am becoming healthier and losing weight every day". "I am happy in the knowledge that my health and inner beauty shine through, and I am reaching my goal weight " are manifestations of your optimistic outlook.

Be patient and persevere, this new you will emerge after time and effort, but will be well worth the wait.
